One of the questions many students ask themselves in college may be about finding that perfect spot for studying. After all, distractions do exist, and in turn swerve attention and decrease motivation. That’s not to say the best study spot can’t be on your bed, couch, or in your friend’s apartment, but there are others on campus that are inviting as well. Many campuses offer a special place meant for “studying,” but it’s just a matter of finding where YOUR perfect study spot is. Here are some general spots on campus that may prove worthwhile if you are trying to study or get work done:

Empty Classroom

If no class is scheduled to come in there, an empty classroom can prove beneficial in studying or getting schoolwork done. Think about it, classrooms are large, have a chalkboard, and sometimes a projector/laptop. This affords the opportunity to write out content or project some notes on the screen, which is especially useful for visual learners. Resourceful tools exist in the classroom to aid your studying efforts, not to mention it feels perfectly quiet when you have the room to yourself. Another tip when trying to study in classrooms, make sure to not sit facing the window, as this eliminates distractions. So grab two desks, put your feet up on one, and get stuff done.

Coffee Shop

Coffee shops have become stellar places to quietly work. The general aura of the shop is tranquil, with any chatter between people usually kept to a minimum. I mean, many students would enjoy coffee (or at least sweets) accompanying them as bits of energy during a study session. Yes, coffee shops sometimes may not be considered “on-campus,” but there are plenty of coffee shops within the general proximity of many college campuses. Grabbing a cup of coffee may be the perfect relaxant (or source of caffeine) to help your to-do list dwindle.

Library

The location serving as one of the utmost efficient places to study is your campus library. It offers a welcoming environment for motivated students, any noise is limited to mumbling or slightly loud headphone music, and it presents an ideal amount of space (AKA multiple floors) for many students to inhabit and work.

Not only that, the library offers plenty of resources to aid in your own studying. This includes tables, couches, printers, staplers, computers, reference books, a café, and librarians. It doesn’t get much better than this if you are looking to have a lengthy study session or catch up on tons of schoolwork. It’s important to be wary that though these three places are inviting study spots, diminishing bad study tactics is equally as important.

Any college student can be proactive; it just requires finding the perfect spot to get more work done. Of course, there is no absolute “perfect” spot for every student, but there are perfect spots catered to each individual. Any excellent study spot should be quiet, distraction-free, and offer some sort of comfort to you. It may take some experimentation or time for you to find THE spot you’ll be studying in during college. However, when it is found, you’re putting yourself on the right sidewalk to success.
